“Lachlan Ainsworth (Marino.) epitomizes the term up-and comer.
He was booked for this gig solely based on his music which,
for someone whose name you don’t see that often, is
exceptional.
His obvious dedication to the music he loves will shine a
brilliant light onto the dancefloor when he graces us at
Chinese Laundry”

Marino’s Story

Marino started djing at the age of 19, naturally progressing from my obsession with electronic music throughout my late school years. I grew up listening to the legendary Global Underground, Renaissance, and Slinky mixes before I was legally allowed to go to clubs that installed a love for melodic, emotive music.

Once I was of legal age, I attended Sydney’s finest club night in its heyday, Sublime. It was here I experienced the amazing effect of actually delivering the music and not just listening to it. I had found another obsession that amplified my love for music.

Starting out on Technics 1200s turntables, I taught myself the art of dj’ing by going out every weekend and watching
Sublimes residents dj’s weave their magic and then practicing what I had learned.

I began playing out at venues including Sublime, Space,
Candys Apartment, World Bar, The Cross, The Burdekin, The Bunker, and Tantra. In these first sets, I learned that djing wasn’t just about the music you had and how well you could beat match, but also how you build, progress, and transform the music you have into an experience, not just a set.

Taking inspiration from early influences such as Sasha, Nick
Warren, and John Digweed, I developed my own style of
mixing and programming. I now play everything from progressive house to techno, focusing on the journey, programming, and delivering a unique experience every time.
